Works with individuals, couples and groups for a variety of issues, with expertise in Anxiety Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), relationship problems, and substance abuse issues. He is a certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADC-I).
Dr. Bergström utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help patients find adaptive ways of living that result in meaningful change. His clients have consistently described him as warm, interactive, compassionate, nonjudgmental and effective.
Dr. Bergström’s approach to therapy is to gain an understanding of his patient’s unique strengths and challenges in order to reduce suffering and increase their life-effectiveness, meaning, and overall fulfillment.
As a Full Time Tenure-track Professor and Co-Chair for Pacific University’s Anxiety Research Team, Dr. Bergström provides training to graduate students and conducts research on cutting edge treatments for anxiety disorders.
He incorporates this research into his professional practice in order to provide the most effective treatment interventions. Dr. Bergström actively publishes and presents at both national and international conferences.
