Utilizing research supported Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) he treats the full spectrum of anxiety and related disorders.
Dr. Richards is an expert in the treatment of anxiety disorders and is particularly adept at helping patient’s overcome their greatest fears. He works with adolescents and adults and is able to provide both community-based and in-home treatment as needed.
His experience also includes Behavioral Health Interventions/Consultations in Primary Care and Pain Management.
As a former military psychologist, Dr. Richards has experience in empirically supported Cognitive Processing and Exposure Therapy for veterans, law enforcement and other trauma survivors with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
In addition to psychotherapy, Dr. Richards has provided forensic evaluations to the United States Armed Forces and has experience evaluating individuals for high-risk/high-demand careers such as law enforcement, combat, intelligence, pilots and physicians.
Dr. Richards has presented and provided multiple trainings at national and international conferences on the topic of OCD, Generalized Anxiety, Health Anxiety, PTSD and other anxiety disorders.
He has provided supervision to mental health professionals including psychometric test technicians, psychology residents and provides consultation to medical and psychological professionals.
