Portland Anxiety Clinic, LLC offers family therapy. Our treatments are based on the theory that the behaviors of one family member can affect the emotions and behaviors of others.
Each member brings his or her own life experience and ideas to the relationship as a whole. We are trained to provide counseling in an effort to change negative patterns within the family system.
Treatment focuses on helping families learn to communicate their feelings and thoughts effectively, how to change negative behavior patterns and how to utilize problem-solving strategies to increase coping skills. Parents are guided in ways that enable them to support and encourage their child to face fears and anxiety.
Common reasons people seek family therapy include:
- Marital stress
- Divorce issues
- Co-parenting after divorce or separation
- Parent-child conflict
- Individual symptoms
- Behavior or school problems
